I'm so glad we attended the tournament in Ottawa this past weekend.  It was a great family experience. We made a day of it. Cheering our dojo on.  Having a picnic lunch together.  Learning about an aspect of  karate that you just can't understand unless you go.   It was fascinating to watch the progression of competition through to the awarding of medals.  It was so beneficial for the kids to experience a real competition especially where the atmosphere was so professional.     White belts to Black belts alike, receive the same level of  encouragement and respect.     It has invigorated the kids with a new sense of motivation and excitement for Karate.     Also,  this event somehow went far beyond just being about Karate.     It was a growing experience that showed them about facing fear and nerves and triumphing with a new sense of confidence and pride.      I'm sure that from now on, we will be going to every tournament we can because the kids will insist on it!
